Q:if i have mostly a's and one or two b's,taken all honors classes and skipped a grade in some classes (science, spanish, french), lots of extracurriculars and community service, done 2 years of the harvard university summer program and have done research with and have a letter of recommendation from a harvard professor, do i have a shot of getting in?
First and foremost, I’m going to reiterate that NEITHER of us are admissions officers. So to be blunt, everyone who applies technically has a “shot of getting in,” haha. Just because we say we think you have a chance does not mean you will actually get in. We aren’t part of the admissions process in any way, but we can give you advice along the way that we think is helpful.
Second, I think you can definitely use your extracurriculars/community service/Harvard program in your essays to reflect how they changed/made an impact on your life/something like that, so they’re definitely good to have. Just remember that the application process is holistic, so having those things is not the only thing they look for!
Also, Harvard sucks. ;) but that’s great that you have a letter of recommendation from a prestigious university!
