Q:Hey! I'm a freshman at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. We have an open curriculum as well (which I love), but the academic environment isn't what I'm looking for. I'm thinking of applying to Brown for my sophomore year. Do you have any tips for applying as a transfer student?

Hi there! If you’re interested in applying, I’d definitely say to go for it. As for tips, just be yourself. Applying as a transfer has better odds than people who apply their first year! But that’s also because less people apply, haha. Show them that you believe Brown has a more effective environment for critical thinking, maybe? And saying that you’ve already experienced the open curriculum and love it would also be good.
